ISO 45000 - Occupational Health and Safety

ISO 45001 represents the evolution of a series of proprietary standards dedicated to health and safety, especially the OHSAS 18001 standard.

The OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series) standard was the internationally recognized and suitable tool in enabling Organizations to achieve legislative compliance and continuous improvement. This specification promoted by the BSI – British Standard Institution – and first issued in April 1999 was applicable until the end of 2015. In fact, in 2016 the ISO 45001 standard came out.

ISO 45001:2018 has been finally published.
In fact, on March 12, 2018, the standard reached the “60.60 International Standard published” stage.
The standard has also been translated into Italian by UNI and adopted as UNI ISO 45001:2018.

In the Italian version, a number of clarifying notes regarding the correct placement of the standard in relation to the current legislative framework have been included within the National Information Appendix.

This is the standard for the certification of occupational health and safety management systems. It incorporates the main new features, such as the risk-based approach, analysis of the context in which the organization operates, active participation of top management, and worker consultation and participation.

Procures guidance to enable organizations to provide safe and healthy workplaces by preventing occupational injuries and health problems and proactively improving OSH.
