The ISO 20000 standard is intended to define what an organization that has established a process improvement strategy such as managing service level reporting, monitoring and accounting for IT services, information security, suppliers, managing changes and upgrades in terms of continuity of the delivery process, identifying the specificity of IT services, promoting the process approach, and satisfying the users served.

The standard is applicable to central and local government and all IT service delivery organizations with respect to ICT (Information and Communication Technology) supply acquisition, ICT project management, ICT service delivery, and administrative process delivery.
